A Dream Realized
There was a time in my life when I dreamed of being exactly where I am today in my career. I didn’t know what the struggle would look like or the consequences that would pop up along the way. But I asked for this, wished for this, worked for this, and wanted this.
What I’ve learned is that sometimes our dreams actually arrive, but we don’t recognize them because we’ve already decided what they’re “supposed” to look like. We get so fixed on the version we had in our heads that we miss the one unfolding in real time.
The Reality of the Labor Market
The labor market and my field haven’t exactly been a walk in the park. But there was a day when I dreamed about speaking at events with other HR, DEI, and Talent Acquisition professionals I admire. I wished I could consult on the side to help organizations that needed my expertise and live a better life.
I never imagined consulting would grow beyond a side hustle and become the one thing keeping me currently afloat financially. I didn’t predict that my peers, the very people I respect and have poured into over the years, would be the ones to open doors and recommend me for consulting and project work, webinars, stages, and more.
I didn’t ask the universe for the “how.” I didn't ask for anything other than the end result. I was open to how it would come to be. I just said yes to the dream.
A Moment of Reflection
This morning, it hit me: I’m living a version of what I once asked for. Not perfectly. Not easily. Not without stress. Not without concern. But it’s here.
Why am I sharing this? Because we forget.

The Culture of "More"
In this 2025 culture of “more, more, more,” it’s easy to overlook that what we asked, prayed, hoped, or hustled for may already be in motion or already here. Just because it came with struggle, growth, or unexpected timing doesn’t make it less real.
So whether you’re job seeking, newly employed, building a business, or holding steady in a "long-time" role, make sure to pause for a minute after reading this. Ask yourself:
Where am I right now?
What did I once dream of that might already be happening?
Am I on the path I asked to be on?
And if not, where can I adjust my sails?
Acknowledging Your Progress
If you’re already living part of what you wanted, let yourself see it. Just because it’s hard doesn’t mean it’s not real. Just because it came differently than expected doesn’t mean it’s not aligned with what you asked for and the direction you're moving in.
Don’t let a fixed mindset rob you of the joy of seeing your own growth, your own journey, your own mountaintop moments or however they show up.
You are enough.
Be proud of how far you’ve come.
And love yourself harder.
Moving Forward with Clarity
As we navigate our careers, it’s essential to keep our eyes open to the opportunities that surround us. Sometimes, the path we envisioned may not be the one we end up taking. But that doesn’t mean we should dismiss the journey.
Embrace the Unexpected
Life has a way of surprising us. The twists and turns we encounter can lead to unexpected opportunities. Embrace them. They might just be the stepping stones to your next big achievement.
Cultivate a Growth Mindset
Adopting a growth mindset can change everything. It allows you to view challenges as opportunities for growth. Instead of feeling defeated, ask yourself what you can learn from each experience. This perspective can help you navigate your career with confidence.
Celebrate Small Wins
Don’t wait for the big milestones to celebrate. Acknowledge the small victories along the way. Each step forward is a step toward your ultimate goal.
Connect with Others
Networking is crucial in any field. Build relationships with others in your industry. Share your experiences and learn from theirs. You never know where a simple conversation might lead.
Stay True to Your Vision
While it’s important to be open to new opportunities, don’t lose sight of your original vision. Keep your goals in mind as you navigate your career. This will help you stay focused and motivated.
Conclusion: Your Journey Matters
In the end, your journey is uniquely yours. Embrace it. Recognize the progress you’ve made and the dreams you’ve achieved. Remember, it’s not just about the destination but the experiences along the way.
So, take a moment to reflect. Celebrate your journey. You’re doing better than you think.
And always remember, you are enough.
